Recently, foreign host Aya visited Jingxian, Anhui Province,“the Hometown of Xuan Paper in China”， to spend a day as a"foreign apprentice".

　　The traditional art of Xuan paper making is a nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage. In 2009, it was also inscribed on UNESCO‘s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

　　As the locals tell it, the finest Xuan paper comes from just two local ingredients the bark of the Qingtan tree and the rice straw grown in the sandy fields of Jingxian.From harvesting the raw materials to the finished paper, the journey spans over a hundred steps, and takes a full three years.

　　There is a saying about Xuan paper:“Paper Lives a Thousand Years.” The words written on it today will still be readable a thousand years from now. This is not just paper,this is a time machine.
