In Nanping Village, Yixian County, Anhui Province, Huang Shuyan from Xiamen revitalized an old Huizhou style building. In 2015, Huang sold her property in Xiamen and traveled 867 kilometers to Nanping. Among more than 300 Ming and Qing Dynasty buildings, the salt merchant's official residence ‘Tongfengdi’ during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty was relatively dilapidated.
After 7 years of restoration and 50 round trips between Fujian and Anhui, Huang injected new vitality into this old house. She said, ‘If we only focus on restoration like we do with cultural relics, and the new life cannot be carried out well in it, then this house is considered sick. I hope my efforts can help more young people see the value of the old house.'(安徽大学新闻传播学院 作者:谢诗睿 王雪松)
